There's something about watching your child learning to ride her bike that brings back very precise memories, very lucid feelings about those first independent rides: precariously balanced, almighty powerful.

Every time I think I have reached a satisfactory knowledge
of the great English language, Zadie Smith comes out with a new novel, which
forces me to reread the first fifty pages two or three times. But then words
start to flow again, and they sing about London, the brutal and vibrant one that I know
so well, about the harsh reality of immigration and integration, about friendship. Passionate,
authentic and poignant. More, please.

Nuvole
"So, now Nonna is a cloud?"
"Yes. A pretty little cloud."
"So, maybe we will see her next time we go on a plane?"
"I don' t know. But I think she can see us, sometimes."
"Like, when it's cloudy."
"Yeah. Because she loved us."
"Yeah. This is sad."
"Yes. A pretty little cloud."

Because she loved us. Time to be sad.

But now I am Six
When I was One,
I had just begun.
When I was Two,
I was nearly new.
When I was Three
I was hardly me.
When I was Four,
I was not much more.
When I was Five,
I was just alive.
But now I am Six,
I'm as clever as clever,
So I think I'll be six now for ever and ever.

Memoria corta
"When papa' read me three bedtime stories. And, when you gave me a goodnight kiss."
"Not YET."

Such a pretty me

"A few of my favorite things" have an actual name
"A little-known piece of trivia," Altman announced."This smell, after it rains for the first time. You know what's that called?"
"Is this going to freak me out?"Williams said.
"Petrichor," Altman said. "It's my favorite smell. You only get to smell this once or twice a year, because it has not to rain for a while, and then rain. It's the smell of summer in St. Louis."
"Petrichor?" Williams said, uncertainly.
